2022 Presidents Message

It is a great honour and privilege for us both to continue as Bowls Scotland Presidents for a third year. We would like to thank our clubs, Whitburn Bowling Club and Townholm Bowling Club, for their continued support.

This year is going to be a remarkably busy season with the National Championships returning, European Championships being held at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr, the Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham, British Isles Championships in Wales and finally the Junior Internationals in Belfast. So, it is going to be exceptionally busy but that’s something that is pleasing for us both after very limited events taking place over the last couple of years.

Another encouraging development for our sport this year is that youth bowls has now become part of Bowls Scotland’s remit. We would like to welcome onboard the team of new District Youth Co-Ordinators and wish the best of luck to all young bowlers competing in the youth competitions this year and beyond.

We would encourage all clubs to make the most of what is going to be a huge summer for our sport. Whether it be attracting new members, welcoming back existing members, or connecting with your local community, there are plenty of exciting opportunities to grow the game of bowls over the coming months. As always, Bowls Scotland will be on hand to assist clubs with any support you require.

On behalf of us both, we hope everyone has a successful season and enjoys the most important aspect of our great sport - the ability it has to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together.
