BIBC and BIWBC team roles announced

Four highly experienced individuals have been named as Bowls Scotland team managers and player-coach ahead of preparation for the BIBC and BIWBC Senior and Junior Internationals.

Leading the gentlemen’s teams will be multi-medal winners Paul Foster MBE and David Peacock, and leading the ladies’ teams will be Margaret Bingham, with Margaret Letham assisting her as player-coach.

Paul is a three-times Commonwealth Games gold medallist, winning the fours gold alongside David at Glasgow 2014. David has represented Scotland internationally for over 20 years.

Former captain Margaret Letham last year gained her 100th Scotland cap. Margaret Bingham moves from team selector to team manager.

The late Linda Brennan had agreed to be assistant team manager before her passing in January, and would have been an excellent addition to the support staff.

The BIWBC Senior Internationals will be held at Belmont BC, Belfast, from 17th to 19th June, with the BIWBC Junior Internationals at Victoria Park, Leamington Spa on 21st and 22nd July. The BIBC Senior Internationals will also be at Victoria Park on 30th June and 1st July, whilst the BIBC Junior Internationals will be at Belmont on 8th and 9th September.

The process of selection has been reviewed, and this year, Bowls Scotland will not be hosting trials. There will be pre-selection for members of the high performance squad based on advice from their head coach David Gourlay, whilst county representatives will be asked to put forward nominations, and players can submit application forms. Further information, including application forms, can be found here.

The team managers for the BIBC and BIWBC Championships, which take place just before the Senior Internationals, have been confirmed as Jock Halliday and Betty Aitken.
