Return to the Green Story - Wellington Park BC

Bowls Scotland have been asking clubs to share their Return to the Green Stories with us to celebrate getting back to playing bowls in 2021. Wellington Park Bowling Club in District 26 have made it into their local newspaper, The Greenock Telegraph!

When we spoke to the club they told us “Bowling clubs can play a vital role in the community by offering membership deals, free bowls sessions, allowing community groups to use our facilities, people coming together to have some social interaction and more importantly making it safe and comfortable for people to return to a more normal life again.”

The club tell us that this season they reassured their members by issuing a simple itinerary explaining the rules and regulations in place before each member came back to the club this year so that the Covid ‘do’s and don’ts’ were nice and clear. They also made sure that everyone knew who the Club’s Covid Officers were. After working hard for a safe and successful re-opening of the club over the past month, the committee are now looking on projects for the rest of the 2021 season. They are hoping to continue to explore ways to help reconnect their local community and “highlight the benefits bowling clubs can provide to everyone and anyone!”

Thanks so much to Wellington Park BC for sharing their news with us. If you’d like us to share your Return to the Green Story please get in touch via info@bowlsscotland.com
