Marshall wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Alex Marshall took home the Lifetime Achievement Award from last night's Team Scotland Awards in Edinburgh.

It was a popular win for Scotland's most successful Commonwealth Games athlete, and he received a standing ovation from his fellow sports stars and guests at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Despite it being a Lifetime Achievement Award, Marshall has declared he "will keep going" and is aiming for more success at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

As well as his Commonwealth Games performances - six appearances and a record-breaking five gold medals - Marshall's world and indoor titles and longevity were acknowledged as he received his award from Scottish rugby legend Gavin Hastings.

It was a wonderful night celebrating Scottish sport, with many worthy winners. Marshall was pipped to the male athlete of the year award by swimmer Duncan Scott, and the lawn bowls squad were unlucky to miss out on team of the year to the Scottish men's rugby team.

Scotland beating England at cricket was voted sporting moment of the year, with the lawn bowls men's fours' gold-medal-winning moment at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games finishing amongst the top four.
