Arlene Ewing appointed onto Board to Champion new Empowering Women Programme
We are delighted to welcome Arlene Ewing as a new member onto the Board of Bowls Scotland in our new Empowering Women in Bowls programme.
Arlene was an International swimmer and competed at all levels throughout a long and illustrious career.
With this appointment she brings a wealth of knowledge on growing up in a competitive background and is able to demonstrate her drive and commitment gained through sport in her daily working life.
Currently, Arlene is an Assistant Director at Brewin Dolphin in Glasgow where she provides Investment Advice.
Arlene said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to share my experiences with other women in the sporting arena through Bowls Scotland and to encourage all ages to get out there and enjoy bowls. I have a very strong work ethic, and this comes from the long lonely hours spent in the pool and I know this is what is required to be a great athlete.
“With the new Empowering Women in Bowls programme, Bowls Scotland aims to create opportunities and encourage girls and women into the sport, whether they be the next team manager of Scotland, the next club coach or the next World Champion.”
Chair of Bowls Scotland, Sue Beatt, said: “We are delighted to welcome Arlene onto the Board as our co-opted Director. Arlene will be championing our drive to get more women involved in our great sport. She understands the demands of being a high-level athlete as well as what it takes to succeed in business as a Scottish woman. We are all look forward to working with her.”
