Daniel Baker appointed new National Development Officer

Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Baker as a new National Development Officer.

sportscotland has awarded Bowls Scotland extra development investment over a two-year period to further support clubs in Scotland who are based in areas where participation is deemed as challenging due to a number of external factors.

Drawing on his experience in bowls over the past 10 years, Daniel currently holds the position of Club Secretary at Motherwell Bowling Club and is also the Junior Convenor at Lanarkshire Indoor Bowling Club.

This new role at Bowls Scotland will see Daniel working closely with clubs to increase participation through the highly successful Try Bowls programme, strengthen links within local communities and improve health by providing communities with a positive environment to be both physically and socially active using the Bowls Mark programme.

Daniel, said: “I am looking forward to getting the opportunity to provide unique support to bowling clubs across Scotland whilst contributing to the great work of the Development team.”

Bowls Scotland’s National Development Manager, Duncan Caithness, said: “We are delighted to welcome Daniel to the Bowls Scotland development team. Daniel brings with him a wealth of experience from the voluntary sector which combined with many years of experience on his own bowling club committee makes him a great fit for the role.

“It’s great to see sportscotland recognise the impact of the development work carried out by Bowls Scotland by providing additional investment to fund this new National Development Officer post.

“Adding Daniel to the development team will allow us to provide more support to our members clubs and help strengthen their connections in their local communities.”
