New competitions and events director appointed
Bowls Scotland is pleased to welcome Robert MacPherson to the board as competitions and events director (operational).
Robert comes to the post with over twenty years of bowls experience, and an impressive business background, having worked for Apple and IBM.
Originally from Largs, Robert lived in Shanghai and Hong Kong before returning to Scotland upon retiring. He is a current member of West Kilbride BC and Ardrossan Indoor BC, and retains his membership of Hong Kong Football Club Bowls Section.
“I am delighted to be given this opportunity to join an experienced and established team that is providing growth and opportunities for all areas of the game in Scotland,” Robert said.
Sue Beatt, chair of Bowls Scotland, welcomes Robert’s appointment.
“The board and I are delighted that Robert will be joining us. He brings a passion for our great sport, along with a wealth of experience of running major projects. We look forward to working with him, and I’m sure he can carry on the great work that has already been done.”
The competitions and events director (operational) works with the competitions and events director (strategic) to support the competitions and events group in the running and delivery of Bowls Scotland competitions, most notably the National Championships, which this year will take place from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th July at the National Centre for Bowling, Northfield, Ayr.
