Recruiting: Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Group (Voluntary)

Help shape the future of our sport.

Bowls Scotland is getting ready to welcome new members into our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group - a team that plays a crucial role in ensuring bowls is a sport where everyone feels they belong. The group was first established in 2024 with members from both inside the bowling community and beyond, and since then it has helped shape the direction of our EDI work by offering meaningful insight, constructive challenge and guidance.

Now, as we move into the next phase of our approach, we’re expanding the group and looking for new voices who care deeply about equal opportunity, inclusion and positive change.

Why join?

This group has a real impact. Members help identify the barriers faced by underrepresented groups, guide Bowls Scotland’s equality priorities, support how we engage with communities, and provide feedback on progress against our Equality Action Plan.

You’ll join a passionate team that includes a Chair, Bowls Scotland staff and Board representation, up to six members from our bowling community, and up to two members external to the sport. Meetings take place quarterly and are usually held in the evening and virtually, making it accessible wherever you’re based.

What we’re looking for

We welcome people who care deeply about equality, diversity and inclusion, especially those with lived experience. Strong communication skills, openness, and the confidence to challenge constructively all matter here.

Experience of bowls is helpful, but not essential - we value a range of perspectives and understand that insight can come from within or beyond the sport.

We’re especially keen to hear from young people under 25, women and people with disabilities, as these groups are currently underrepresented within our sport and workforce.

Help Us Build a Sport Where Everyone Belongs

Our EDI Advisory Group brings together a majority of members from within the bowling community, supported by external voices who offer fresh perspectives and help us better understand the barriers people face. This mix ensures our work is both rooted in real bowls experience and enriched by wider insights.

As a member, you’ll help identify challenges facing underrepresented communities and guide our equality and inclusion priorities. You’ll also champion our core values of Teamwork, Inclusion, Integrity, Clarity and Ambition as we work together to create a sport where everyone feels they belong.
