Coach Education Subsidy Fund - Investment Increased

Since December 2023, Bowls Scotland has committed to a £10,000 Coach Education Subsidy Fund open to all affiliated clubs, with criteria for supporting five key target groups aimed to increase the diversity and number of qualified coaches in Scotland. In the last 18 months, 186 coaches from 83 different clubs all over Scotland have received direct financial support from Bowls Scotland to access free or heavily discounted Coach Education opportunities.

Thanks to the continuing success of the Subsidy Fund, sportscotland have provided an additional £8,700 to enable us to keep supporting our underrepresented groups throughout 2025 and beyond. The new round of Subsidy Funding opens today and will remain open until 31st March 2026.

With huge thanks to our key partners at sportscotland, this increased investment will allow us to expand our Coach Education Subsidy Fund for all coaches within these five target areas. This will allow all eligible individuals or clubs to apply for 50%, 75% or 100% discount on their Bowls Scotland education costs.

A reminder that the following five target areas will be open to application for financial support for all clubs and coaches across Scotland:

  • Female coaches
  • Coaches aged 16-25 years old
  • Coaches with a disability
  • Coaches from rural areas
  • Coaches from areas of social deprivation
