High Performance Squads take part in the Gold Coast 8 Nations

BOWLS SCOTLAND HIGH PERFORMANCE SQUADS TAKE PART IN THE GOLD COAST 8 NATIONS AND PARA SPORT EVENT IN BROADBEACH, AUSTRALIA

The Bowls Scotland High Performance squad have had four productive practice days leading into the 8 Nations at Broadbeach. Scotland have met the qualifying standard with Commonwealth Games Scotland in all 8 disciplines for next years’ Commonwealth Games meaning this is a key event for players to perform on Broadbeach greens before individual selections in September.There is a squad of 9 men and 8 ladies where all players will be rotating throughout the 8 Nations.

The 8 Nations competing alongside Scotland will be New Zealand, Wales, Canada, Malaysia, Hong Kong China and 2 Australian Teams. Scotland open their campaign on Saturday 3rd June 2017 at 0830 against New Zealand with; Men’s Pairs and Men’s Triples and Ladies Fours and Ladies Singles.

The 8 Nations Para Sport event is an essential event for the Para Bowlers squad in the qualification process for the 2018 Commonwealth Games .The 10 players and Directors have had several days of good quality practice on very different playing conditions to what they are used to and are now ready to face the challenges of qualifying for the Games when the event kicks off on Sunday 4th June 2017 at 1215. One of the para teams start their games against Malaysia and another will play England.

The Para Sport Mixed Pairs will be 15 ends 3 Bowls and the 2 Bowl Triples will be 15 ends with both teams playing 7 games. Scotland and Australia have two teams and other opposition will include Malaysia, England, Wales and New Zealand.
