Stuart Chesby appointed Disability Development Officer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Chesby as Bowls Scotland’s new Disability Development Officer.  

An experienced bowler in his own right, Stuart is a para bowler, coach, and member of Dunfermline Northern Bowling Club. He also coaches the Scotland Learning Disabilities International Team and inclusive coaching sessions at Falkirk Indoor Bowling Club.

In his professional career, Stuart has worked in administrative roles within a variety of organisations and has also held roles working with people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.

In his role as Disability Development Officer, Stuart will develop and deliver an inclusion plan in partnership with key stakeholders to provide quality opportunities and increased participation at all levels for children, young people, and adults with disabilities. With a focus on finding and retaining members, developing the support network of coaches and volunteers, and creating quality and accessible club environments.

Excited to be starting his new role, Stuart said: “I am grateful to Bowls Scotland for entrusting me with the new role of Disability Development Officer.

“I look forward to utilising my skills and experience within the sport of bowls and collaborating with the Bowls Scotland team to ensure the continued development and growth of our highly inclusive sport for the benefit of clubs and members throughout Scotland, both now and in the future.”

Bowls Scotland Business Operations Manager, Sarah Pryde-Smith, added: “On the back of Bob Christie leaving Bowls Scotland late last year, we took some time to review the Para Bowls Co-Ordinator role in conjunction with the new Drive to Success - Podium Pathway and assess what support was required in this area. 

“We identified the need for more support at the development end of the sport, as our international para players continue to excel on the world stage, we need to ensure there is strong base of para players from within club environments. 

“I am delighted to welcome Stuart to the team, and I am confident with the skills and experience he has, that he will make an immediate impact.”
