Bradley Buchan and Rebecca Houston to represent Bowls Scotland at World U25 Championships

We are delighted to announce that Bradley Buchan and Rebecca Houston will represent Bowls Scotland at the 2019 International Indoor Bowls Council World Junior Championships at West Denton IBC between Monday 2nd – Friday 6th December.

This is the first year this event will run in its new format with World Bowls and the IIBC combining to organise the tournament with representatives being invited from Bowls Scotland and the SIBA. There will be 20 male and 20 female players from 14 different countries travelling to the North of England in the quest to be crowned world champion. The competition will feature men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed pairs.

Bradley and Rebecca will compete in the singles and come together to play in the mixed pairs and the duo will also be coached by Bob Christie.

Scotland also have another four other representatives with the SIBA being represented by Jason Banks, John Meikle and Eilidh Weir. Whilst, John Orr will also compete in the event as he was crowned 2019 World Bowls Tour U25 singles champion at Potters Leisure Resort in January.

Bowls Scotland High Performance Coach, David Gourlay MBE, said: “We are excited to be competing in this new event and I’m sure it will be a great experience for both Bradley and Rebecca. Some of the best Under 25 players in the world from both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere are playing in this tournament so this is an excellent opportunity for our players to test themselves at the top level.”
