Birmingham 2022 - Day 9 Round Up

Scotland signed off from the final day of lawn bowls at Birmingham 2022 with a fifth and final medal in the Men’s Singles.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be gold for Iain McLean as he was defeated by defending champion Aaron Wilson 9-21 in his semi-final.

Determined to come home with a medal from his debut Games, Iain showed a lot of determination to re-motivate himself for the bronze medal match against Malaysia’s Fairul Izwan Abd Muin. The Scot quickly showed his class and raced into a 12-1 lead. Despite gradually being pegged back, Iain finished the contest as a well-deserved 21-11 winner.

A huge thank you to everyone that has supported Team Scotland both at Leamington Spa and back home, it is very much appreciated! Congratulations to all the players, coaches and support staff for their efforts throughout the Games.
