Commonwealth Games lawn bowls draws announced

It's 20 days until the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games kicks off, and the draws for the lawn bowls competitions have been released.

Taking place at Broadbeach BC, just south of Gold Coast City, the lawn bowls will be one of the hottest tickets in town. It starts on Thursday 5th April (Wednesday 4th April, 11pm UK time) with the preliminary rounds of the men's triples and women's singles.

In the men's singles, Scotland - represented by defending champion Darren Burnett - is in section C with Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Guernsey, Samoe and Niue.

In the women's singles, Scotland - represented by Caroline Brown - is in section B with Wales, Brunei Darussalam, Guernsey and Jersey.

Alex Marshall MBE and Paul Foster MBE represent Scotland in the men's pairs, and join Malaysia, Norfolk Island, India, Niue and Samoa in section D.

Lesley Doig and Claire Johnston represent Scotland in the women's pairs, and join Malaysia, Cook Islands, Brunei Darussalam and Botswana in section C.

Scotland's men's triples of Ronnie Duncan, Derek Oliver and Darren Burnett are in section D with Northern Ireland, Norfolk Island, Malaysia, Cook Islands.

Scotland's women's triples of Stacey McDougall, Kay Moran and Caroline Brown are in section C with Malaysia, Norfolk Island and Cook Islands.

For the men's fours team of Duncan, Oliver, Foster and Marshall, Scotland is in section D with England, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.

For the women's fours team of Doig, McDougall, Moran and Johnston, Scotland is in section D with Wales, Canada and Niue.

Robert Barr, Garry Brown, Irene Edgar, Michael Nicoll, Michael Simpson, Sarah Jane Ewing and David Thomas represent Scotland in the B2/B3 mixed pairs and the B6/B7/B8 open triples, and Scotland compete alongside England, New Zealand, South Africa, Wales and Australia.
