Para Home Nations: Day 2 Session Three Results

Scotland rounded off day two of the Para Home Nations in commanding fashion with three wins from three in the physically disabled pairs.

Rosemary Lenton and Pauline Wilson raced into an early 10-2 lead against England after 8 ends. However, the English pairing of Michelle White and Gill Platt battled back, and the Scots only held a one-shot advantage after 11 ends. The Scottish duo managed to see the game out by scoring on the final three ends to finish the day with a 13-9 win.

The team of Garry Brown and John Wardrope had an exciting game, that went right down to the last end, against Wales’ Robbie Jones and Chris Spriggs. The Scottish pairing made the stronger start and were 6-2 ahead after 5 ends. Wales upped their game in the middle part of the match and the Scots found themselves trailing 11-12 going into the last end. A strong last end from Garry and John saw them claim three shots and chalk up another victory for Scotland.

Garry Hood and Kevin Wallace put in a solid team display against Steve Ireland and Mike Robertson from England. Scotland were always in control throughout the match and some great bowls from Garry and Kevin ensured they finished with a commanding 17-8 win.

Tomorrow will see the final session of play between Scotland, England and Wales at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr. Scotland won 9 of their 13 respective matches on day two and will be looking to finish off the series in a winning fashion.
