2023 Hong Kong Classic Team Announcement

Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the players representing Scotland at the 2023 Hong Kong Classic.

The event will be held from Saturday 11th – Sunday 19th November at Kowloon Bowling Green Club, Club de Recreio, Kowloon Cricket Club. An exciting team of two female and two male players have the opportunity to take on some of the world’s best in South East Asia.

Our Women’s line-up features two High Performance players in Dee Hoggan and Rachel Sinclair, who have both excelled at various international competitions in recent years. Dee is a former Scottish and British Isles Ladies Singles winner and has collected medals at both the European Championships and World Champion of Champions. Meanwhile, Rachel Sinclair clinched gold in the Women’s Fours at the 2022 European Championships and also won the British Isles Ladies Under 25 Singles title back in 2019.

Airdrie Central Bowling Club teammates, Paul Kane Jnr and Gary Prunty, complete the Scottish quartet, having both produced excellent results in national competitions and this year’s British Isles Internationals. Both Paul and Gary have been part of the Lanarkshire South team which has dominated the Andrew Hamilton Trophy in recent times. Paul also previously won the Bowls Scotland Super Series Men’s Singles in 2017, whilst Gary was an integral part of the Scotland Thistle Men’s team that won the 2023 British Isles Internationals at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr.

Dee, Rachel, Paul and Gary will compete in the Men’s & Women’s Singles as well as the Men’s & Women’s Pairs events throughout the nine days of competition.

Bowls Scotland Head of High Performance Bowls, Kareena Cuthbert, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for four very talented players to gain more valuable international experience. It has been a hugely successful year for our players representing Scotland and I look forward to seeing Dee, Rachel, Paul and Gary flourish in an incredibly competitive environment.”
