How you got into Bowls – I have been bowling since I was 13 years old. I first started through an after-school initiative set up by a group of ladies at our indoor leisure centre. My dad and uncle were also both bowlers.

Why you wanted to be a TBA – Bowling and bowlers need to move with the times, it’s not only an old persons sport for men, women can also be just as good and better. However, we have age and tradition against us. We need to engage our future generations now, which is why I applied for the Try Bowls Activator position, not because I’m a great bowler, but because I want to make a difference.

What would you say to encourage people to try bowls – I would say to anyone that you should go and experience bowling. When you find ‘your club, where you belong’, not only will your physical stimulation improve, but so will the social interaction you have and you will see and feel an improvement in your mental health. We all want friends, and bowls is about friendship, so find a club near you and come give it a try!
