Gourock Park Delighted to Qualify in Four Disciplines for 2017 National Championships

With 80 members in total, 50 male and 30 female, Gourock Park has experienced an extremely positive season so far with the gents qualifying in four disciplines for the National Championships taking place next week from Monday 24th July – Saturday 29th July. The district finals for the club were played at Rothesay Bowling Club where players qualified in the Gents Junior Singles, Gents Pairs, Gents Triples and Gents Fours.

Amongst the pool of players there are three sets of father and sons including Hugh & Ryan Kearns, George & Douglas Twaddle and John Reid Snr & John Reid Jnr who between them will make up the players for disciplines including the Junior Singles, Pairs and Triples.

Joining these players include Fours team consisting of Ian O’Neill, Robert Harron, Rodger Lynn and Ian Brown with Rodger being the eldest of the ten qualifying players at 73 years old.

With the club celebrating 90 years this year, the players are keen to continue the celebrations and perform well at Northfield in the hope of bringing home as many wins as possible to Gourock Park Bowling Club. We wish the players and all other qualifiers the very best of luck for the 2017 National Championships.
