SARAH JANE EWING

DOB - 14th March 1986.

Club – Abbeyview BC

How you got into the sport – I was introduced to the sport by my elderly neighbours who took me to the green during the school summer holidays. They were very supportive and followed my early bowling career.

Bowling Highlights – Representing Team Scotland at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia as a director to Robert Barr as part of the visually impaired mixed pairs. Winning gold and silver with Maria Spencer at the 2015 World Championships in New Zealand. On the green competing myself, representing Scotland at junior and senior level as well as my British Isles titles at junior level. In 2010, I was selected to take part in the Achieve 2014 programme and went to Delhi where it was great to see Team Scotland on the greens. In 2016, I won a bronze in the ladies’ national fours with my mum and sister part of the team, competing with them and achieving a medal meant a lot to me.

Best bowls advice received – Play to your strengths, practice your weaknesses and be confident.
