How you got into the sport – Several generations of my family played bowls, but my grandfather was the one who encouraged me to join the Elder Park Public BC at the age of 16.
Scotland debut – 2016.
Bowling highlights – Winning Scotland`s first ever gold medal in the Visually Impaired Mixed Pairs with Melanie Inness and Director’s George Miller and Sarah Jane Ewing at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
Winning the Inaugural Bowls Scotland Visually Impaired Singles at Northfield with Director Sarah Jane Ewing.
Captaining Scotland on several occasions.
Gents Outdoor Club Champion at Jordanhill BC.
4x SDS/SIBA Visually Impaired Indoor Singles Champion with Director Sarah Jane Ewing.
4x U.K. Visually Impaired Indoor Singles Champion with Director Chris Morrow.
2x Visually Impaired Scottish Outdoor Singles Champion with Director Chris Morrow.
Winning all 7 Visually Impaired National Championships During 2022/23 indoor season.
Most embarrassing moment on the green - In the 1980’s before I knew anything about visual aids, I constantly had trouble trying to centre the Jack. This led to me taking a 20-year break from bowls through embarrassment until I was encouraged to try again using a monocular. Thankfully the game is more inclusive now.
