Bowls Coaching Award Structure
Coaching has a positive impact on people and their local communities. The development of coaches is integral to ensuring that those participating in bowls are supported by a diverse range of quality coaches who work together to help them achieve their goals.
Bowls Scotland is committed to supporting, developing and delivering accessible coaching awards which lead to a knowledgeable, skilled and highly effective bowls coaching workforce throughout Scotland.
We currently offer the following coaching awards and are actively working on the next stage of the coaching pathway.
Introduction to Bowls Coaching Award
Play your part in introducing new players of any age to the brilliant game of bowls.
Coaches will leave the course with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver fun, safe and progressive sessions to new bowlers of any age.
Level 1 Bowls Coaching Award
Develop and improve existing players within your club.
Coaches will leave the course with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver fun, safe and progressive sessions to develop club players using skills-based practices to produce a more consistent line and length.
Bowls Inclusion Workshop
Bowls is a sport that can be played by absolutely anyone, and that is something Bowls Scotland is extremely proud of. We work in partnership with Scottish Disability Sport to offer Bowls Inclusion Workshops.
Coaches will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of
- How to coach bowlers with a physical, visual or learning disability
- The rules of disability lawn and indoor bowls plus classification
- Inclusion through a games-based approach using Bowlsparc equipment
