Data Protection

As part of the day-to-day running of a club it is likely that personal information will be processed. For example, clubs may collect and hold the names and addresses of their members; it may gather email addresses of people who visit the club on an open day; or it may distribute contact information to enable players to arrange ties.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sets out the grounds for lawful processing of personal data for organisations.

A briefing document has been prepared by Harper Macleod LLP for sports governing bodies to share with their clubs. It provides guidance around GDRP and concludes with 10 actions for every organisation to take. Click here to download.
