Bowls Scotland is fully committed to ensuring that all participants, parents, coaches and officials have only positive experiences when taking part in the sport.

Bowls Scotland, has adopted the Policy and Procedures for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable adults in Bowls, copies of which can be downloaded below.

We have been working with Children 1st and sportscotland to ensure that our child protection procedures and policies reflect current best practice. No matter what role you play in supporting the sport of bowls in Scotland, it is important to familiarise yourself with the all the relevant documents which can be found by clicking the link below:

Reporting Concerns

Protecting our bowlers

Sometimes we see or hear something that makes us a bit uneasy and we’re not sure what to do about it. Do we keep quiet and hope someone else will complain or do we tell the people who have the experience to investigate?

We have a quick guide to responding to safeguarding concerns here.

You can contact Bowls Scotland with concerns you may have.

Child Protection Courses

Bowls Scotland requires all those working with children (coaches, officials and helpers) within clubs as well as those accompanying children on trips, regardless of whether in a paid capacity or as a volunteer, attend the relevant child protection courses. Child protection training should be repeated every three years.
