Bowls Scotland Update

Bowls Scotland wishes to announce that High Performance Manager, Rhona Howie MBE, has resigned from her position. Rhona has worked over the past two years to improve performance in bowls as well as progress the way the sport is played in Scotland.

High Performance Coach David Gourlay commented: “In the short time that I have worked with Rhona her passion and commitment for performance sport has been evident, and her work in establishing the Regional Academies has resulted in opening up coaching and support to the youth of bowls which will help Scotland to secure its place on the international stage.”

David will continue to coach and develop the players heading towards the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018. The Board and everyone at Bowls Scotland would like to wish Rhona well for the future and thank her for all her hard work in the last two years.

CEO Alan McMillan is clear that Rhona has made a major contribution and moved the game forward: “Bowls Scotland tasked both Rhona and David to challenge what it takes to be world class in Bowls and improve on our historical successes. Both have risen to this challenge and we are sad to lose Rhona. The challenge now is to continue to build on what she has done in her time with us. We wish her all the best.”
