Development is a key area of Bowls Scotland’s business. Our development activities include promoting the game, retaining and increasing members, monitoring and updating policy and helping our affiliated clubs to: maintain a healthy membership; offer new bowlers an opportunity to participate; and have an awareness of opportunities to develop their business.
In the last year base research has been undertaken to establish the current position of bowls membership in Scotland. Figures taken from the national survey on participation profile in 2002 can supplement our research but the real value has been gathered from feedback received through the District Councillors and visits to clubs, districts and local authorities throughout Scotland. In 2011 we will continue to build on this knowledge of Bowls Scotland’s membership whilst implementing various initiatives, guidance and policies to enable us to grow the development side of our business. Below is a small taster of some of the things to expect from us in 2011:
Throughout 2010 a number of clubs and bowlers have highlighted some of the great work going on in their area and we would welcome any further updates or examples of best practice that we can share with our members and supporters. Your feedback provides vital information which assists us in building a picture of what is going on around the country. This information helps to inform the work we are planning and ultimately enables us to achieve our key goals, increase membership and attract new sponsors and funding to our game. If you would like to discuss any club developments or future projects please do not hesitate to get in touch. |
