Funding PDF Print E-mail

Numerous bowling clubs throughout Scotland have accessed funding to help improve the infrastructure of their clubs and increase their memberships. For some the process of identifying a suitable funding body, completing an application form, providing support documents and submitting a bid can be quite daunting so we are aiming to support you as best as we can in this process.

The first step is identifying suitable funders for your project therefore Bowls Scotland has started our funding section by listing some of those that are currently available.

Funding is available for coach development, volunteer development, facility development and increasing participation, to name but a few key areas of your business. To view some of the current funds we have identified which might be of interest to your club please follow the links under Funding.

Sports Facilities Fund
The Sports Facilities Fund is the core facility funding programme from sportscotland. The main principle of this programme is to deliver a network of quality facilities at local, regional and national levels, which are accessible and affordable to the communities they serve.

The Small Projects Strand of the Fund was introduced in 2010 and is a single stage application form that can only be used for projects with a value up to £100,000. For projects over £100,000 there is a separate application process. The fund is open to applicants from across the sporting landscape – including clubs, community sport hubs, governing bodies, local authorities and trusts.

In a further development, the fund now offers community based groups the opportunity to apply for 100% funding for their projects – up to a maximum of £50,000 in exceptional circumstances. Successful clubs must demonstrate that their project will have a significant impact on developing sport in the local community and that there is a clear financial need.
